Architect, Barbara Padilla Joins Elevator Safety Review Board
We’re thrilled to announce that Barbara Padilla, RA, RAS, has been appointed as a distinguished member of the Elevator Safety Review Board by Governor JB Pritzker, a significant step towards enhancing safety standards in the elevator industry.
Barbara enhances her role with her involvement in the ANSI A117-1 Accessibility American Hotel & Lodging Association Committee, the Chicago Transit Authority ADA Committee, and a member of Disability Lead.
The governor’s office sought Disability Lead’s recommendation for this pivotal role, specifically seeking an individual with expertise in elevators. Barbara, an accomplished architect with a disability, emerged as the ideal candidate, embodying the perfect blend of professional acumen and personal experience.
The Elevator Safety Review Board, overseen by Deputy Governor Bria Scudder and Senior Assistant Jessica O’Leary, plays a crucial role in regulating various aspects of elevators and conveyances, ensuring compliance with construction, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration, and repair standards.
Barbara’s inaugural meeting on the board is scheduled for March 14th, marking the beginning of her contributions to elevating safety standards in both Chicago and Springfield.
